4:45pm Parade through Hayfield Farms.
Here are times for post-parade dinner volunteers:
- The Marching Band & rest of the school should begin their Homecoming Parade about 4:45 pm, Fri, 14 Oct, where they march through Hayfield Farm area. At the same time, we’ll have all the volunteers (currently Atsuko Russell, Yvette Schuler, Sally Nicely, & Linda Lichtman--please e-mail me if you can help…thanks in advance) show-up @ start setting up the 2 tables in the hallway just outside the Band Room with chips, 2 liter bottles, ice, cups, plates, napkins, etc. Additionally, I’ll have the Papa John’s pizzas delivered around 5 pm @ the front doors. Once the pizzas arrive, then place them on tables. The kids will come back from the parade around 5:20 pm. We have to ensure an orderly flow of getting food, then they will eat in the Band Room. Around 6 pm, they will get ready for the Homecoming game.

Here are times for home football game volunteers:
- The Homecoming game Marching Band performance occurs AFTER the game. During the Homecoming halftime, the King/Queen court are presented & a few other activities. Thus, the Marching Band performance is moved to after the completion of the football game. Please plan accordingly.

Oakton Invitational Marching Competition
Oakton High School. 2900 Sutton Road, Vienna, Va 22181
12:15am – Report to field. Rehearse
1:00pm – Dress for competition
1:45am – Depart for Oakton High School
3:10pm – Warm up
4:00pm – Performance. Then watch other groups.
4:45pm – Depart for Hayfield
5:30pm – Rturn to Hayfield
Stow away equipment and uniforms, then dismissed
Don’t forget:
Black socks, marching shoes, t shirt, shorts, drinks,

Please have your child report and picked up promptly. If you intend to pick up your child from the event, please follow the band policy for leaving from the event, found in the band handbook, at “hayfieldbands.com.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I’ve learned over the years that for some of the different competitions and various awards (ie citizenship, spirit, and so on awards) that they begin grading you the moment the busses arrive. There are some observers, workers, volunteers, and the like that are asked about how they were treated from school band members, their band boosters, families/fans, etc.

- If there are weather alerts/advisories, tornadoes, lightning, and so on that postpone or cancel the competition, Herndon officials will contact Mr. Burke. He will update Band webpage and contact me to send out an e-mail as soon as possible.
NOTE: Both Dottie Andrews & I have seniors this year; so, if you’re interested in being Band Booster Prez or Vice Prez next year, please send me an e-mail. This will help the transition & keep the legacy goingJ

Finally, our students REALLY NEED YOU! As most teenagers, they will NEVER admit this. Your VOLUNTEERISM is ESSENTIAL to THEIR SUCCESS!!! Additionally, they really do APPRECIATE seeing you @ their various events cheering for them.
