Senior Night - Home Playoff game November 9th

Hello Band Family!

This email is to inform everyone of the plan for tomorrow night.

The entire band will stay after and have a pizza dinner tomorrow.  We will treat this like any other home game.  We are still asking for pizza servers and any parent support (pit crew) to come tomorrow night in case the weather clears!

The Marching Seniors decided to have their announcement BEFORE the game. All escorts should be inside the stadium no later than 6:30.  If it stops raining, the rest of the band will be out there with them. If it is still raining, Seniors will  be announced but we may disband the group shortly thereafter (if the group disbands, students may go home or stay for the game on their own).  Please bring large umbrellas just in case!!!  (Senior Night tomorrow is for those in the competition band.  The concert band has their Senior Night that acknowledges ALL Seniors in band during the last concert of the year.)

Thank you again to all the parents who constantly come help with uniforms, serving dinners, moving equipment, chaperoning, driving the trucks, donating snacks and water, and those that hold props down in high winds during competitions/games!!  It takes many, many hands!  This has been a wonderful season, despite all of the weather challenges!  Thank you!  We still have LOTS of band events happening during the rest of the school year!  Stay tuned and please know that we need YOU!!

Senior Night - Change in Plan

Hello Band Family!

Unfortunately, due to heavy rain in the forecast this evening, the band will not be able to attend the game.  There is an anticipated home playoff game next Friday, November 9th and we hope to honor and celebrate our Seniors then.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused, but mother nature has not been a friend of the band this football season.  We will surely find a way to acknowledge and celebrate the accomplishments of our Seniors!!  Stay tuned!!!

Thank you so much for your support!

This Week in Band - October 21-27, 2018

Hello, Band Family!

Thank you to all the parents/volunteers who assisted the band this weekend at their VBODA Assessment. We had many come help with uniforms, chaperoning, moving equipment, loading/unloading the truck, driving the truck, and even holding down props in the middle of the show because of high winds!!  Your help is always greatly appreciated (not to mention desperately needed!)!!

Congratulations to our Marching Hawks on an awesome showing!!  They received an "EXCELLENT" rating!!! Thank you for a fun and amazing season!!!

We have several events this week!  Please join us for a Booster Meeting on Tuesday, October 23rd at 7:00 p.m. in the band room!!  We will discuss upcoming events, band needs, and fundraising opportunities.  One idea we are considering is a Band Yearbook of sorts.  If you would please take the following questionnaire so that we can gauge interest, it would be greatly appreciated.  https://goo.gl/forms/WHOajM1jToUqtax53

We have a home football game on Friday, October 26th.  We will need help with everything!!  Dinner, uniforms, equipment, props.  You can volunteer here:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0b4baca92ea1ff2-2018

Thank you so much for your support!

Band Tag Day #2 - SEPTEMBER 29th

Good Morning, Band Family!!

We have rescheduled tag day #2 for Saturday, September 29th!  We need drivers!

As you know, the weather has not been kind at all this summer, and we had to cancel our original date because of Florence, but it's supposed to be beautiful weather on Saturday!!

If you can drive, please sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0b4baca92ea1ff2-2018
Students are signing up in the band room.

Another bonus for your student signing up for tag day is it helps defer the cost of their Spring Trip.  In case you didn't know, the band is traveling to Universal Studios Orlando in March!!  Your student earns credits for participating in tag day, $50 for 1 day, $25 for the 2nd day, for a total of up to $75 off the cost of their spring trip.

Please consider driving on Saturday.  This is our largest fundraiser of the year!  Your help is needed and greatly appreciated!!

Thank you so much!!

Thank you to all of the parents who volunteered last night at our first performance of the season.  It takes many hands to make this program work, so we appreciate all of you who helped with uniforms, coolers, moving equipment, getting the stands ready, and just being there for our band.  Thank YOU!!!

This Week In Band!!

Happy Labor Day Weekend, Band Family!

We hope you all enjoyed the first week of school and are now enjoying a relaxing 3 day weekend!

The weather hasn't been playing very nicely for the marching band, having to hold rehearsals inside due to heat, and a cancellation of attending the first away game due to storms. Hopefully the weather cools and cooperates the remainder of the season!

There are afternoon rehearsals this week, Tuesday-Thursday, 3:15-5:15.  There is no Friday football game at all due to a bye week.

And we have our first Tag-Day on Saturday, 9/8!!!  This is our largest fundraiser of the year!  The students canvas neighborhoods within Hayfield's boundary asking for donations.  We still need students to sign-up in the band room, and parents to sign-up to drive!!  You can sign-up here:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0b4baca92ea1ff2-2018

We meet in the band room at 8.  The students eat breakfast, dress in their uniforms, and have a safety briefing before heading out into the neighborhoods in groups at 9 a.m.  Drivers are asked to meet across from the band room to receive the names of students in their group, neighborhood assignment and envelopes, and a safety briefing as well.  Tag day normally runs until after 2:00 p.m. so please make sure your band student has lunch money or a packed lunch as they will take a lunch break with their group.  Participating in Tag Days will also help defer the cost of the Band Spring Trip!!  So please sign-up!!!

Feel free to sign-up for other volunteer opportunities as well!!  The band needs a lot of help to put on their performances!  Help with uniforms, feeding dinner, moving equipment on and off the field, chaperoning, and the list goes on!!  We need you!!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

We will also be selling spirit wear on Thursday night and BONUS – we will have pillow forms available for those who haven’t purchased uniform pillows and would like to charge them to your credit card!  Please note, however, that there will be a $3.00 surcharge for pillows purchased via credit card.  That would make them $68 each.

Looking ahead…

As you know, end of year is fast approaching! Our final concert of the year is on Tuesday, May 24th. This may seem far away and too soon all at once!!

This is a special night for our Seniors, as it is their last High School concert. To celebrate their achievements, we are looking for pictures of our Seniors, as well as some from the band year, to include in a slideshow to be played at the concert.

Seniors should send 3 or 4 pictures, - a baby picture, grade school age, and a senior picture. They may also include a picture that depicts their plan after graduation. Whether that's a picture in college gear, a job, military, vacation, or just relaxing at home, we want to know what your Senior has planned!!

Pictures should be provided no later than May 1st to be included in the slideshow.

Please send pictures to me at Lori1715@gmail.com.

Booster Meeting and Jazz Concert

REMINDER #1 – In case you missed last night’s message, there will be a Band Booster meeting on Thursday, 4/19, at 6:30pm in the band room.  Please plan to come and vote for next year’s booster board.  Also, if you are interested in having a spot on the board, please step up!  I have attached a copy of the current by-laws to this message.  The by-laws have the job descriptions of each of the board positions.  We are voting on ALL positions:
  • President
  • Vice PresidentS
  • Secretary/Communications Coordinator
  • Treasurer
  • Fundraising Coordinator
If you don’t think you can do a job by yourself, grab a friend or partner and do it together!  Wording in the by-laws supports co-positions.

REMINDER #2 – The jazz band will have a joint concert with the orchestra rock band tomorrow night, 4/18, at 7:00pm.  Please come out and support the jazz band.  They have worked hard and they sound GREAT!

Thanks for your time and support!

Good evening -

A quick reminder that there will be a band booster meeting on Thursday, 3/22, at 6:30pm in the band room.  Please see attached for the agenda for Thursday and the meeting minutes from the January meeting.  Obviously, if school is still closed on Thursday, there will be no meeting.

Also, if you haven’t logged onto Facebook to see photos from the spring trip, please do so.  We had a great time and the kids were SOOO good!  If your kid is still a little tired, it could be due to the fact that we walked no less than 5 miles each day.

Everyone enjoy your snowy Wednesday!

Senior Concert on May 24th! Pictures needed for Senior Slideshow!

Thank you!!!
Lori Graziano

Hayfield Band Update

Hello, everyone  -

I hope you have all been able to catch up with losing your hour of sleep last night.  Next week – more sunshine!

We have a bunch of updates from the band program.  Let’s get to it!
  • Restaurant Night – Please help us raise much-needed funds for our band program by participating in our two-day restaurant event at Paisano’s Pizza Kingstowne.  Please present or mention the attached flyer with your order so that the band program can receive 20% of the total sales for March 14 and 15.  It’s good for lunch and dinner, so enjoy it twice, or at the office, or for dinner before the…
  • Spring Trip Meeting – On Wednesday evening, March 14 at 6:00pm.  This meeting is for the parents and students who will be participating in the trip to New York on March 16 – 18.
  • Pillow Sales – Guess what we are doing with the old marching band jackets?  We are making pillows out of them!  Well, not WE, but someone is and they look awesome!  If you would like to gift your student with a pillow from their marching band uniform, or if you are an alum or know an alum who would like a memento from their marching band years, you will want this!  The cost will be $65 per pillow.  Please see the order form attached for a photo and order info.
  • Booster Board Member Elections – It’s that time already!  Time to elect the band booster officers for next year!  If you are interested in serving on the booster board, please send me your nominations by March 31st.  Elections will take place at the booster meeting in April.  If you have questions, please let me know.
We are working on a date for the next booster meeting.  It was originally scheduled for March 19th, but since we will just be getting back from the spring trip, we wanted to take a day of rest.  I will be in touch as soon as we get a date.  Also, I will have some information about the upcoming spring concert and another fundraising opportunity.  Stay tuned!

As always, thank you all for your time and support!

Sweets for the Sweets

Good afternoon, Band Family -

As you know, our next band concert is on Tuesday evening, 2/13 at 7:00pm.  The Boosters will have a table set up in the lobby to sell spirit wear and baked goods.  We would love your donations of individually packaged sweets to sell for $1.  To make sure we get enough to sell, please add your name to the SignUp Genius.  We could also use some volunteers to sell and watch the table during the concert.  Of course, we wouldn’t want you to miss your kid playing, but if you are available during part of the concert, your help is appreciated!

Bring your Valentine sweets to share and support your band!

Thanks so much for your time and support!
