Hayfield Band Boosters (Message 24)--Final Home Football Game, November 2; Senior Recognition

Greetings Boosters,

I hope you are weathering the storm.  Please stay safe.

Our final home football game is scheduled for Friday night.   Please come out and support the Hayfield Hawks.

Planning notes
Marching Band Awards Dinner.  We still need volunteers for setup and cleanup at the Awards Dinner, November 7.  The dinner will be a pot luck and you will be asked to contribute a dish.  I will send out a follow-up e-mail that assigns dishes by the first letter of your last name.

Fruit Sale:  Only one week remains to sell more fruit!  Fruit sales have not reached the levels that we had hoped for.  In this final week, please encourage your student to reach out to neighbors, friends and family to give them the opportunity to buy delicious Florida-grown fruit.  Lindahas prepared another flyer that  can be distributed throughout your neighborhood and at other school activities.  I've attached it to this e-mail.

Navel oranges and red grapefruit are offered for $18.00 for a box of 16-18 navel oranges or 8-10 red grapefruit. Mixed boxes of 6-8 oranges and 5 grapefruit are available for $20.00. Fruit will be delivered in early December.  Students will earn money in the form of credits toward their spring trip account for each box of fruit sold. The more they sell, the less the trip will cost.

Remember, you can order online this year at https://www.floridaindianrivergroves.com/shopnow.asp?id=593029. If ordering online, please use your student's seller ID (obtainable by e-mail from lindalichtman@yahoo.com) to ensure the sale is properly credited. Ordering online offers two delivery options--delivery to Hayfield or delivery directly to a home address. The price when delivering to Hayfield will be the same as quoted above. The price per box when delivered to a different location will be $35.00 per box.

Senior Boutonnieres.   Kristy Baik will lead a team in making the boutonnieres for our recognition of our Senior Marching Hawks.  I am looking for 1 additional volunteer with a Freshman or Sophomore student to help in this effort.  It is important that we are able to keep the tradition going by always having Boosters familiar with the process.  Please go to Signup Genius and let us know if you can help.

Spring Trip.  The Spring trip is scheduled for April 17-21.  The trip includes lodging, bus transportation, adjudication and performance fees, 2 breakfasts, 2 dinners, a 3-day park-hopper pass to Walt Disney World Parks, dining coupons for the parks and a dinner show experience.  Students will need to bring money for 1 dinner, 2 breakfasts, 4 lunches and money for shopping.  The cost is $680 dollars, payable in 5 payments of $136.  The second payment is due November 15 with additional payments due January 4, February 1, and March 1.  Checks should be payable to Hayfield Secondary School.  Note:  the cost of each student's trip will be adjusted with any fundraising credits that he/she accrues in his/her Booster organization account.

Pictures and Videos.  I'm still looking for pictures and videos.  Thanks to those who have provided pictures of the band.  We still need more.  If you have taken pictures and recorded videos of the band throughout the season, please share them with us. We would like to show some of them at the Band Awards Dinner in November. Please send copies to HawKBandBooster@verizon.net or call me to get the details on how to upload them directly to the Band's Shutterfly account.  All submissions are needed NLT 2 November.

Band Boosters Florida Citrus Fruit Sale Fundraiser

Announcing
Hayfield Secondary SchoolBand Boosters
 Annual Florida Citrus Fruit Sale

October 9 – November 2
Delivery: December 4, 2012

Have you ever wondered how you can help the band boosters support the band program andearn money towards your student's spring band trip?
It's easy! Each year our band sells delicious fresh Florida navel oranges and red grapefruit in October for delivery in December. The fruit is picked and shipped within 48 hours of delivery to our school, and is the best that Florida has to offer.
During the sale, encourage your student to ask everyonethey know – family, friends, neighbors, teachers, former band families, mail carriers, etc. – if they would like to buy fruit. You can even ask your coworkers. You'll be surprised how many people really look forward to our fruit sale each year. Some will buy it to help the band, others will buy it because they like your kid, and many will buy it just because they really enjoy the fruit!
Students will earn money in the form of credits to their spring trip accounts for each box of fruit you and they sell. The more they sell, the less the trip will cost. Some students have sold enough boxes to cover the final few payments of their trips.
Band students will be selling both single variety and mixed 10 lb. boxes of fruit this year.
Boxes of 16-18 Navel Oranges -- $18.00
Boxes of 8-10 Red Grapefruit -- $18.00
Mixed boxes of 6-8 Oranges and 5 Grapefruit -- $20.00

Please show your support for our program by buying a box of fruit for yourself, or for a family member, friend or coworker. After all, everyone loves fresh fruit from Florida!  Your generosity allows our members to enjoy a world of opportunities that otherwise would not be available to them.

New this year, we are offering safe and secure online ordering. You may either have the fruit delivered to Hayfield for the price quoted above or have it shipped directly to another address for only $35. To place an order online or to see more details about the fruit, simply click on the link below:

In order for your child to get credit for their online orders, you'll need to know their band and seller id code. Your child can get this information  from Mr. Burke or you may email me your child's name. My email address appears at the end of this email.

After placing an online order, you will receive a receipt for your purchase via email. You will also be contacted via email regarding delivery and/or pickup options. The fruit is scheduled to arrive at the school on or before December 4th. Please retain a copy of your receipt for your records.

I have been selling fruit since my son who is now in his second year of college was in middle school. Over the years I've developed some tools to help me and my husband sell fruit to our coworkers. I call it the customizable form (customizable fruit info.doc) and have attached it to this email for your convenience. I have also attached a copy of the one I modified for my own use (lichtman customizable fruit info.doc) Simply change the information to that of your student and either circulate or place the form in a common area in your office. I also prefer to enter customer's orders directly into an excel spreadsheet. I've attached that as well (fruit sales.xls)
I also have made an email template (fruit email template.doc) that you can modify then send to inform friends and family.

If you know any parents of band students who are not boosters, please forward them this email. We're trying to reach as many parents as possible.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,
Linda Lichtman lindalichtman@yahoo.com, Hayfield Band Boosters Fruit Sale Chair

The Band Boosters thanks you for your support and for helping to make our fruit sale a success!!!
