Fwd: Hayfield Band Boosters 2014-15 (Message 29): Run For Shelter Announcement

Boosters,

I am distributing a flyer that we received for a 5K/10K/Fun Run to benefit the Carpenter's Shelter in their fight against homelessness.  A few of the details:

This race helps to end homelessness
Proceeds directly support the Carpenter's Shelter which is a local shelter within our very own community.
Fast and Flat course.
Race date is November 22, 8 a.m.
Register at www.runforshelter10K.com

If you and your family are able to attend, please register. The flyer says by 1 November to guarantee a shirt, but that deadline should not be an issue. THANKS for your consideration in supporting this race and our local homeless shelter.

Upcoming week
Final Home Game and Senior Night.  This is the final home game of the seasons.  It's the Battle of the Birds as we play our neighbor, Edison High School.  Volunteers are needed to help with the Pizza Dinner & to move equipment to/from the field.  The sections supplying volunteers are the trumpets, mellophones and color guard.  Additionally, request that parents of 9th - 11th graders take the slots so that the parents of seniors can support their students during Senior recognition.  Please go to Signup Genius and let us know that you will help.

Fruit Sales continue.   The fruit sale is ongoing.  In addition to traditional signup lists, you will also be able to order fruit online for delivery to Hayfield or to another location (for an additional fee).   This year's offering includes navel oranges, grapefruit, mixed grapefruit & oranges and tangelos for $22/box if delivered to Hayfield.  If you opt to have your items mailed directly to the recipient, you can also select from a variety of gift boxes.  Just select the US Mail button when you go to the site.  Remember, students earn money to defer the cost of their Spring trip with each box sold.  So sell, sell, sell!

Other Notes

Marching Band Awards.  The Awards Pot-Luck Dinner will be held on Tuesday, November 11, at 6 p.m.  Dishes will be assigned based on your Family's last name.  Volunteers are needed to help wit setup, serving the food and cleanup.  Go to Signup Genius and let us know that you will help.  Please come out and support our Band as they reflect on 2014 season.

Volunteer for Senior Boutonnieres.  We need a volunteer to assume responsibility for Senior boutonnieres.  The Boosters present boutonnieres to the Senior band members at the Senior Game (Nov 7) and the final Spring concert.  Kristy Baik has graciously led this activity for the last 3 years.  However, she has a graduating senior this year.  The Seniors band members look forward to this tradition and we would like to keep it going.  Please send me a note if you are willing to lead this activity for the 2015-16 school year.

Transition Planning.    We need volunteers!  John Hishta (our Vice President) and I have Seniors this year.  We need volunteers to shadow us so that we can begin our transition out of office--you will assume the President/Vice President roles for 2015-16 school year.  If you have questions or would like to discuss the requirements of any of the positions, please send a note or call.   Lets ensure that we have an active booster organization to support the band program.

Final Call for Pictures?  If you have taken pictures during any of the marching band events, please consider sharing them with us.  We will compile a slide show to be shown at the Awards Banquet in November.  Please send pictures to Hawkbandbooster@aol.com.   Thanks to those who have already sent pictures...they are great!
