This is one of the moments that we all live for;)  Additionally, congratulations to ALL students graduating today.

First of all, thank you to Kristy Baik, Lisa Ritter, Linda Lichtman, Liz Holliday, and others for volunteering and helping serve lunch today to over 270 Music Arts Dept students that will be performing for graduation today.

Second, today, as I relinquish my responsibilities as a Band Booster for the past seven years and President for three of those years and transfer Band Booster responsibilities to the new President Patricia “Pat” Cloud, I’d ask for the following:
- Treat every kid as if they’re your own (not only taking care of your own child but sharing the responsibility for the well being of every student)

- Support the Band Director, Mr. Patrick Burke and Mr. Dan Helm

- Volunteer and see your student succeed and watch the Band Boosters shine

NOTE: If you’d like to be taken off the Band Booster e-mail list, please reply to me.

Finally, the Russell family has truly been blessed these past seven years.  THANK YOU – two simple words that hold a lot of meaning and gratitude:

- Jonathan & Justin are better because of their band experiences

- Mr. Burke and Mr. Helm have been great teachers and mentors to our boys, helping instill hard work, discipline, teamwork, and leadership through the gift of music

- Your students (either in the same grade, higher, or lower as our kids) have helped them grow and have developed a common bond that will last a lifetime and some truly lasting friendships

- Fellow parents have donated money and time, but most importantly, given of themselves through volunteerism…our students REALLY NEED YOU! As most teenagers, they will NEVER admit this. Your VOLUNTEERISM is ESSENTIAL to THEIR SUCCESS!!! Additionally, they really do APPRECIATE seeing you @ their various events cheering for them.  HAWKS ROCK!

RE: Hayfield High School Band Msg #55...Band Final Concert Success & Thank You!

Band Booster Family,

Though I'm away on business, please know that I was thinking of all our students, especially the seniors, as they were getting ready for their final concert of the school year last night.  I have no doubt that they made every parent, sibling, friend, and others in the audience proud of them.  The underclassmen need to be ready to step up because last night was the final concert for the seniors.

To the seniors, I'm blessed and honored to have watched them develop into exceptional young men and women these past four years.  For most of the seniors, this may be the last year that they play in front of a crowd.  I hope they enjoyed it and relished it;)  Now, they will go out & do great things after high school.

Again, this year was dedicated to one of our own: Matt Keeports.  I know he's watching you all from above. He's smiling...

Though I’m not certain of all the Band Booster volunteers for last night’s successful final concert, I do pass my thanks to those that helped with the beautiful boutonnieres:

-          Christy Baik

-          Karis (sp?) Baik (daughter)

-          Liz Holliday

-          Caitie (sp?) Holliday (daughter)

-          Diana Payne

-          Atsuko Russell

HAWKS ROCK!

Humbly serving our kids,

Che

Band Booster Family,

Just a reminder for boutonnieres making tonight: Atsuko has volunteered to lead boutonnières making to honor senior band students (6-7:30 pm, Tues, Jun 5 @ our home: 6506 Langleigh Way, Alexandria, VA 22315).  It’s great that we already have some volunteers for the boutonnières, but we can always use more.  We ask volunteers to bring their own pair of scissors.  If you already know how to, that’s great.  However, if it’s your 1st time, then please watch the following YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOAcOSwlKOc  The seniors will wear the boutonnieres for their final concert, Wed, Jun 6: )

PS: Since I’m away for the Department of Defense this week for business and can’t help Atsuko with this project, I’m trusting that you’ll find it in your heart to spare some time this evening to lend a helping hand for our senior band students who will be graduating soon.  Thank you in advance for your consideration and volunteer spirit;)

Humbly serving our kids,

Che
