Band Booster Family,
Senior game is what it's all about:
- Recognizing seniors for their last performance for football game & marching band competition
- Recognizing parents of seniors for their hard work over the years
- For everyone else, it's for things to come when your student becomes a senior
Thank you to everyone for making it an unforgettable night:
- Erin Fitzsimmons did an outstanding job with the senior pictures
- Seniors & band staff looked sharp with boutonnieres made by the parents
- All volunteers throughout all phases from beginning to end
- Even though it was cold & wet, it was so nice to see grads & parents from previous band years
- Even though I was there, we found a way to win;)

Subject: Hayfield High School Band Msg #19...Reminders for Tonight's Senior Game & Sunday's Hayfield Farm Fall Parade
Band Booster Family,
Quick notes:
- At tonight's home football game, we will honor Seniors & their parents of the Marching Band. Reminder parents of seniors need to meet down by the fence in front of the Band section about 3 minutes prior to halftime for further instructions/guidance
- All volunteers are reminded to re-read the e-mail below for their times & activities...especially highlight that equipment personnel need to meet no later than 6 pm since I've received e-mails from two volunteers that needed to drop for other priorities
- Everyone needs to review e-mail below regarding timing & locations for Hayfield Farm Fall Parade Sunday, 30 Oct...this is always a fun time for all involved
- Finally, a few thank yous:
-- Thank you to Kristy Baik putting together our first restaurant fundraiser of the year @ UNOs. Atsuko & I had a great time & hope a lot of you were able to enjoy the food & make some $ for the Band
-- Thank you to Atsuko Russell, Diana Payne, Elsa & Robert Palting for making about 20 boutonnieres for our Band Seniors tonight
PS: Dress warmly & bring some hot chocolate for tonight's game. Additionally, since I'll be there, expect a loss...lol:)
Humbly serving our kids,
Che

Band Booster Family,
Prelude: CONGRATULATIONS to everyone on the "EXCELLENT" rating for VBODA Competition! Another great weekend of events honoring Matt Keeports & his family…such a blessing
Great...the football team is 2-0 in my absence for the past two weeks! We should get a loss next Friday since I'll be there for Seniors Game;)
First of all, THANK YOU to ALL the parents, siblings, student helpers, friends, and anyone else that volunteered! This included getting the rental truck, sizing/fixing uniforms, loading/unloading the trucks, and so much more.
NOTE: I'm going to do something fairly risky & that is to recognize & thank everyone. However, because of my old age, I'm certain that I'll probably miss someone. If I do, please send me an e-mail; so, I can correct my oversight:

Second, THANK YOU to Mr. Burke, Mr. Helm, and the other assistants! Since I work so closely with them, I get to see how they're educating our students. It's more than music; it's the whole person concept--hard work, integrity, and character building...these are life lessons:)
Third, please do three things for me:
- Congratulate your kid & give them a big hug
- Ask them how they can improve as an individual to help the band get better
(for example more practice, help someone else, etc)
- Ask yourself how you can help your kid as a Band Booster to get better for
the band (for example volunteer some of your time...they grow up quickly &
you don't want to miss it)
Fourth, a few reminders for next week & upcoming events for October:
26,27 m.b. rehearsal 2:30-4:30pm
28 SENIOR FOOTBALL GAME
- Atsuko Russell has volunteered for the 5th straight year to lead the boutonnieres-making effort to recognize our senior students. Many of you have shown interest in helping. Please meet @ 6 pm, Thur, 27 Oct @ our home: 6506 Langleigh Way, Alexandria, VA 22315. If you plan on attending, please reply, so we can get a count of how many volunteers to expect If you already know how to make boutonnieres, that's great. However, if it's your 1st time, then please watch the following YouTube link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOAcOSwlKOc
Please bring scissors, if you have them. The seniors will wear the boutonnieres during their half-time recognition @ Fri, 28 Oct home football game
- For the Seniors' Football Game, Fri, 28 Oct, we'll need parents of non-seniors to really help as much as possible because all the parents of seniors will be on the field @ halftime with their senior student. Usually, 1 song, then students & parents meet up front…names are announced & kids note is read. Orange & white balloons used & goody bags passed out.
- I believe that Erin Fitzsimmons is working on the pictures of seniors that will be displayed during the game
