Band Booster Family,
Hope everyone is excited for tomorrow’s “real” 1st home football game. For 1st timers, here are some things to consider:
- Family & friends usually sit together @ the top of the Band section
- Be ready for all kinds of weather, especially for Homecoming;)
- Might want to bring something comfortable & warm to sit on since bleachers are metal & cold
- After the Band’s halftime show, most of the students will head to the concession stands, so be ready to dig deep in your pockets…lol

CHANGE OF TIME: 1st Band Booster mtg is scheduled for 6 pm, Wed, 5 Oct in the Band Room: topics include Tag Day update, Treasurer info, PTSA liaison, Vice Prez, Spring Trip, upcoming events, & new business
Please note the following from Mary Power, one of our Band Booster family members:
Dear ANGP Committee Members and other interested parties,
Next Wednesday, October 5th, at 7:00 in the Hayfield Auditorium, the ANGP is sponsoring a viewing of the documentary movie Race to Nowhere.
If you have not heard about it yet, you can read more about the film, the history of it, and even see some trailer clips at the following site.
For whatever reason, we have only sold about 20 tickets and we need to sell at least 30 more to get our deposit back, and then need to sell more than
that to make any money. Last Spring several other FCPS High schools had a showing, and at Chantilly HS, they sold a whopping 663 tickets! I just know
the Hayfield Community has lots of potential to generate a great audience as well. ANGP is a great way to keep our area teens safe on June 14th , 2012.
We would love it if you would buy a ticket and come, but we could also really use your help in getting the word out further into the community. So far, we have
distributed over 2,500 flyers, mostly to area Elementary Schools. (However, Island Creek and Lorton Station principals would not approve sending home in the flyers
like the other area schools). If you teach at or attend an area Preschool, other Middle/High school, Sunday School, Gym, Dance Studio, or have a bulletin board in your community,
or some other venue to take a stack of flyers and distirbute, please let me know. If your kids are part of a team at Hayfield, and can send a flyer to a parent distribution list, that would also help.
I can give you 10 flyers, 20 flyers, 100 flyers, I have loads of them printed on hot orange paper ready to go. I will do my best to get them to you.
There are endless possibilities, we just need some help in getting the word out to places where interested parties might be.
You can reach me via this email, or by phone ( 703-517-3174). I am around....
Thanks for your support, we can do so much more in numbers than alone.
Mary Power
NOTE: Both Dottie Andrews & I have seniors this year; so, if you’re interested in being Band Booster Prez or Vice Prez next year, please send me an e-mail. This will help the transition & keep the legacy goingJ
A few reminders for upcoming events:

- 1st Band Booster mtg is scheduled for 6 pm, Wed, 5 Oct in the Band Room: topics include Tag Day update, Treasurer info, PTSA liaison, Vice Prez, Spring Trip, upcoming events, & new business
Miscellaneous items:
- So far, Tag Day mail-ins have received approximately another $2,000 bringing our total to approximately $14,000…WOW!
- Thank you to Kristy Baik for volunteering to organize an UNOs restaurant food fundraiser night for the Marching Band (date/time to be determined) which usually gets about $200
- If you take pictures/videos of our band students, I request that you either e-mail them to me or put them on CD/DVD & pass them to my son, Justin Russell; so, I can use them for the slide show during the Marching Band Awards, Wed, 9 Nov
- Parents of seniors, it’s not too early to be thinking about the 3 pictures (baby pic, kid pic, & senior pic) you want to use for the Final Concert, Wed, 6 Jun 2012
Based on the rest of the week, attached is the most current Excel spreadsheet with volunteers to include those that I’ve noted on Sign-Up Genius. We still need a few volunteer slots filled. Please see either Sign-Up Genius (http://signupgenius.com/go/hssband1 ) or the attached Excel spreadsheet. Hope to see you all @ multiple events to support & cheer on our students.
Finally, our students REALLY NEED YOU! As most teenagers, they will NEVER admit this. Your VOLUNTEERISM is ESSENTIAL to THEIR SUCCESS!!! Additionally, they really do APPRECIATE seeing you @ their various events cheering for them. I hope to see ALL the parents volunteering @ various events throughout the year: ) If there is ANYTHING I can do or answer, please let me know. Please keep the following links for future reference:
