Hayfield Band Boosters 2014-15 (Message 24): Competition on Saturday, Oct 25; Fruit Sales

Boosters,

It was another great football weekend with Hayfield winning at Stuart 56-23.  Thanks to Coach Henderson for tweeting his appreciation for the Band "Love MY band!  So loud last night.  Best in VA!"  We love our team!  Thanks also to the boosters that supported the band on Friday night:

Snacks.  Carol Citron, Daria Bergen-Hill, Tobin Bergen-Hill, Ann Mika, Jack Mika, and Eva Romero
Chaperones.  Christina Gorham, Sylvia Fischer, and Aldemar Burgos

The fun continued on Saturday when the competition band travelled to Gaithersburg, Md, for the Watkin Mills Marching Band Competition.  Our Marching Hawks placed 2nd in the Class II Open category.  Congratulations!  Thanks to the following boosters for accompanying the band on Saturday.

Truck Driver.  Bobby Otero
Pit Crew.  John Hishta, Michael Adams, Mike Sutton, Rafael Quezada, Melvin Cloud, Sherri Tupik, Aldemar Burgos, Mia Burgos and the student aides
Uniforms:  Patrick Cloud, Mia Burgos, Christina Gorham and Yvette Sutton
Chaperones:  Christina Gorham and Bobbi Yoshida
Thanks to Eva Romero for volunteering for 4 sessions last week to ensure the girls were measured for concert dresses.   We could not do it without you!

Upcoming week
Competition, Saturday, October 25.  The competition band will travel to Massaponax High School, Fredericksburg, VA.  I will send the details later in the week.  We still need volunteers to chaperone the trip and to load/unload the equipment.  Please go to Signup Genius and let us know that you will help.

Halloween Parade.  The band will march in the Hayfield Farm Halloween Parade on Sunday, October 26, 2 p.m.  Come out and support the band.

Fruit Sales continue.   The fruit sale is ongoing.  In addition to traditional signup lists, you will also be able to order fruit online for delivery to Hayfield or to another location (for an additional fee).   This year's offering includes navel oranges, grapefruit, mixed grapefruit & oranges and tangelos for $22/box if delivered to Hayfield.  If you opt to have your items mailed directly to the recipient, you can also select from a variety of gift boxes.  Just select the US Mail button when you go to the site.  Remember, students earn money to defer the cost of their Spring trip with each box sold.  So sell, sell, sell!

Other Notes
We Need Pictures.  If you have taken pictures during any of the band events, please consider sharing them with us.  We will compile a slide show to be shown at the Awards Banquet in November.  Please send pictures to Hawkbandbooster@aol.com.

Transition Planning.    John Hishta (our Vice President) and I have Seniors this year.  We need volunteers to shadow us so that we can begin our transition out of office--you will assume the President/Vice President roles for 2015-16 school year.  If you have questions or would like to discuss the requirements of any of the positions, please send a note or call.   Lets ensure that we have an active booster organization to support the band program.

Band Booster Membership.  Please consider becoming a member or band patron for the year.  You can access the form on the Band Website.
