Greetings Boosters,
Last week was a busy week. The students participated in full-day Band Camp. The week was capped off by a pool party Thursday evening and the Pot Luck/Exhibition on Friday evening. Thanks to all of you for enthusiastically supporting the students on Friday. A special thanks to the following boosters for supporting these efforts. We can't do it without you!
Pool Party: Eva Romero, Norida Torriente, Celine Mahne, and Nancy Harris.
Pot Luck & Exhibition: Eva Romero, Bobbi Yoshida, Jack Mika, Sonya Plata, Emily Comsti, and Daria Begren-Hill.
Updates
Uniform Fitting. We will continue assigning Marching Band uniforms August 25 - 27 during evening rehearsals. If your student has not been fitted, please ensure that he/she stops by the uniform closet on Monday or Tuesday evening. There are still volunteer slots available if you can help with the fittings.
Uniform Repair. Calling all sewers! I am looking for volunteers to help with uniform repair/alterations. It is simple sewing--replacing buttons, hemming pants, etc. We will meet at my home on Saturday morning, August 30, 10 a.m. Please go to Signup Genius if you can help.
Tag Day. Tag Day is of our major fundraisers for the year. Students go door-to-door in the Hayfield community seeking donations for the band programs. Residents are very generous and look forward to seeing the students in the Marching Band uniforms. Students that participate in Tag Day earn credits toward the Spring Trip. Please encourage your student to participate. Our first Tag Day is Saturday, September 6.
Support for Football Games. To manage the volunteer requirements, we've divided the band into 5 sections: Drum Majors/Section Leaders; Percussion (Drumline & Pit); Trumpets/Mellophones/Color Guard; Flutes & Clarinets; and Saxophones and Low Brass. Each section is assigned 2 games (one Home game and one Away game). The assigned section's parents will be responsible for filling all of the volunteer slots for the assigned game. In addition, we encourage you to sign up for 5 additional volunteer slots throughout the year. Most of the slots are in the Fall in support of Football games and Competitions. We want to continue to provide the same level of support as in years past. However, we can not do it without your support.
