Greetings All,
We completed Week 1 of Band Camp. The show promises to be very exciting this season.
Thanks to all of the parents that attended the Band Parent Meeting on Thursday night. Information was disseminated about the Band program for the 2014-15 school year as well as the volunteer commitment required of band families. I am attaching a summary of the discussion. If you have questions about the band program, you can contact Mr. Burke at pburke@fcps.edu.
Uniform assignment is underway. Each student is assigned a full uniform (jacket, bibbers and hat) for the season. The Boosters ensure that the uniforms are altered when necessary & ready for the start of the season. Uniforms are always stored in the band room; the students do not take them home. Thanks to the following Boosters for your help in assigning uniforms: Kristy Baik, John Hishta, Kristy Moon, Eva Romero, Melvin Cloud and Patrick Cloud. Couldn't do it without you!

The Boosters will provide drinks. We still need help with setup and clean up of the event. You can sign up at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0D49AEAD23A02-hssband3. I hope that you will be able to participate.
Support for Football Games. To manage the volunteer requirements, we've divided the band into 5 sections: Drum Majors/Section Leaders; Percussion (Drumline & Pit); Trumpets/Mellophones/Color Guard; Flutes & Clarinets; and Saxophones and Low Brass. Each section is assigned 2 games (one Home game and one Away game). I've attached an updated summary of the game assignments. The assigned section's parents will be responsible for filling all of the volunteer slots for the assigned game. In addition, we encourage you to sign up for 5 additional volunteer slots throughout the year. Most of the slots are in the Fall in support of Football games and Competitions. We want to continue to provide the same level of support as in years past. However, we can not do it without your support.
