Hayfield Band Boosters (Message 7): Tag Day #1, September 7

Greetings Boosters,

Thanks to those who attended the Exhibition and Pot Luck last week.  Our students are off to a great start for the season!  The food and fellowship were phenomenal.  Thanks for making it a memorable event.

Volunteers have been running at full speed over the past week.  Following is a partial list of the activities you've supported. My apologies in advance if I missed anyone.
  • Uniform fittings.  Liz Brent, John Hishta, Yvette Sutton and Patrick Cloud assigned jackets, bibbers and hats to 49 students.  Thanks to Mike Adams and Melvin Cloud for transporting the uniforms for alternations and cleaning.
  • Hawk Flight Information table.  Emily Costi signed up new band boosters and band patrons as well as disseminated information about our upcoming fruit sale.
  • Pot-Luck setup/serving/teardown.  Thanks to Kristy Baik, Kelley John, Catherine Kingsley, Eva Romero, Renee Glasby, Emily Costi, Yvette Sutton, Terri Lear, Mrs Rawlins and others that I'm sure I missed.  We couldn't have done it without you.
  • Uniform Alterations.  The sewing team met Labor Day afternoon and completed all alternations for the students fitted to date.  Many thanks to Michelle Booth, Juslyn Tupik, Sherri Tupik and Djamila Lou for replacing countless buttons and hemming sleeves and bibbers.  Your hard work saved the Band Boosters $35 for every sleeve adjustment & $15 for hem the bibbers.
  • Thanks to Theresa Larsen for contacting Zips Dry Cleaners to get a phenomenal price for our dry cleaning our jackets
  • Tag Day.  Thanks to Michelle Booth and Ellen Hishta for getting us ready for Tag Day.  They are preparing the neighborhood maps and envelopes in record time this year
  • Fruit Sale.  Thanks to Linda Lichtman for getting our fruit sale flier and web site ready to go so that we are able to advertise at Hawk Flight and Back-to-School night.  We are postured for more sales this year!
 Hot Items for this Week

Tag Day.  Tag Day #1 if scheduled for Saturday, 7 September.  Tag Days are our major fundraiser.  The students will go through Hayfield neighborhoods and collect donations.  Please encourage your students to participate in Tag Day.  Students who participate in each Tag Day will receive funds to apply toward the cost of the Spring Trip.  Students should sign up in groups of 4 on the Tag poster boards that are in the Band Room.

Students can report to the Band Room between 7:30-&:45 a.m. Saturday.  They will change into their uniform and have a light breakfast while the Parents (Drivers) get directions from the Committee Chairs.  We are still in need of three drivers (as well as 3 backup drivers).  Please go to Signup Genius if you are able to support on Saturday.

Marching Band Uniform Distribution   Several of our freshmen students have not been received uniforms.  We will be assigning more uniforms during the Friday, 6 September, rehearsal, 2:30-3:30 p.m.  I am looking for volunteers to help with fitting uniforms.  Please go to Signup Genius and let me know if you can help.

Spirit Wear.  Spirit Wear will be sold through September 11.  We will only place one order this year.  If you plan to buy Spirit Wear, please complete the order form and place it, along with full payment, in the Band Booster box.  The Band Booster box is located in the Band Room on the wall in front Mr. Burke's office.

Other Notes:

Tag Day.  Tag Day # 2 is scheduled for 14 September.  Volunteers are still needed to drive the students on both days and to donate items for breakfast.  Please go to Signup Genius and let us know where you will help.

Booster Officers.  Thanks to Norida Torriente for volunteering to serve as our Secretary.  We still have an opening for the PTSA liaison position.  If you are willing to serve, please send me a note.

E-mail signup.  If you know someone who is not getting our weekly updates, please have them send a note to hawkbandbooster@aol.com.  Likewise, if you are receiving our e-mails in error, please let me know.

Photos.  Please share your photos from band events with us.  We are collecting photos throughout Marching Band season to create a slide show that will be shown during our end-of-season dinner.  If you have pictures that you would like to share, send them to me @ hawkbandbooster@aol.com.

Restaurant Nights.  We would like to resume our restaurant night fundraiser this year.  I'm looking for a volunteer to organize two restaurant nights for the year.  If you're interested in this opportunity, please send me a note.
