Greetings Boosters,
The Boosters were incredibly busy this week. We continued our efforts to get students fitted for Marching Band Uniforms. Thanks to Eva Romero and Yvette Sutton for helping to ensure each member's uniform was sized properly.
The band traveled to South County High School on Friday night to cheer on the Hawks Football Team. Thanks to Rafael Quezada, Melvin Cloud, John Hishta and Ken and Linda Lichtman for chaperoning the band.
Tag Day #1. The students went into the neighborhoods surrounding Hayfield yesterday to collect Tag Day donations. They worked from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Their hard work paid off...they collected $6040! Great job by all! In many instances, the residents were not home. So they left Sorry We Missed You envelopes so that the residents can send in their donations. Last year, these envelopes netted $4000+ additional dollars well after Tag Day concluded. A special thanks to Tag Day coordinators Michelle Booth, Ellen Hishta and Jenae DeShields. It takes a small army of volunteers to execute Tag Day. Thanks to the following Tag Day volunteers:
· Drivers: Linda Lichtman, Melvin Cloud, Michelle Paxton, John Hishta, Ben DeShields, Terri Lear, Ron Schmidt, Bob Kingsley, and Nava Ezra.
· Food Donations: Ben DeShields, Ellen Hishta, Catherine Kingsley, Norida Torriete, and Rafael Quezada.
· Tallying donations. Ken Lichtman and Liz Brent.
Notes for the Upcoming Week
Tag Day #2. Tag Day #2 is scheduled for Saturday, 14 September. The students will canvass the remaining neighborhoods for donations. A significant number of students signed up for Tag Day #2. We are in need of 2 additional drivers for the day. Please go to Signup Genius and let us know if you can help. There are also slots for backup drivers should the primary drivers have a conflict.
Marching Band Shoes. The shoe salesman is scheduled to visit Hayfield the week of 9 September. Mr. Burke is trying to schedule the visit during the Friday afternoon practice. If your child needs shoes, this is your opportunity. Please ensure you send a check for $30 payable to Hayfield Band Boosters. All orders must be paid in advance.
Other Notes
Volunteer needs. Signup Genius is our primarily method of getting volunteers for the many activities the Band Boosters must support. Many of you have already signed up and we truly appreciate your generous donation of time. There are still dozens of requirements to be filled. If you haven't signed up yet, please do so this week. Our site is http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0D49AEAD23A02-hssband2 . If we all share the load, the band calendar is easily executable.
Spirit Wear. We are extending the date for final Spirit Wear purchases. Spirit Wear will be sold through September 13. We will only place one order this year. If you plan to buy Spirit Wear, please complete the order form and place it, along with full payment, in the Band Booster box. The Band Booster box is located in the Band Room on the wall in front Mr. Burke's office.
Become a Band Patron. You can support the band program with a Band Booster membership. Annual membership is $10 per person or $20 per family. For a donation of $30 or more, you will be designated a patron and recognized on the concert programs. Your contributions help to defray the costs of music, uniforms and instruments. All donations are tax deductible. I am attaching a 2013-14 membership form. If you are interested, please place your completed form and your contribution in the Band Booster box that is located in the Band Room.
