Volunteers
The Band Booster program is fueled by volunteerism. Thanks to all of you who have already signed up for the various fall activities. I am thrilled that many of the slots are already filled for the season. We could not provide the support without your help.  A high five for Dawni Kissler who has volunteered to repair uniforms next week and to Russell Booth who has volunteered to drive the rental truck with the band's equipment to the three competitions.  I encourage you to go to the SignUp Genius and let us know where you will help. Don't forget that students and siblings can also volunteer for citizenship credit (and it looks good on college applications!). So, if they are looking for volunteer hours, consider the Band Boosters

Volunteers needed for the competition, September 29. We desperately need at least Pit Crew volunteers.  The Pit Crew will load the truck at Hayfield; unload the truck in Herndon; assist in getting the equipment onto the field for the competition; re-load the truck after the competition; and unload the truck at Hayfield.   At the competition, it is important that equipment be placed on the field quickly, so volunteers are absolutely essential.  Please go to Sign-up Genius and let us know where you will help.

Restaurant Nights. If you are interested in organizing a restaurant night, please send me a note. In the past, we have worked with area restaurants to designate a night where a portion of the sales generated by the Hayfield community are given to the Band Boosters. You will be responsible for negotiating the details with the restaurant.

Planning Notes

Fitting for concert dresses. Michelle Haskel has agreed to measure our girls for their concert band dresses. Michelle will be in the band room on Tuesday 9/25 for the Symphonic Band and Wednesday, 9/26 for the Wind Ensemble. If your daughter already owns a dress, please have her try it on to ensure it still fits. If it does not, she should be measured during the designated periods when Michelle is in the band room. Please send a check on the day that measurements are taken for $65 payable to Hayfield Band Boosters and we will order the dresses in one shipment. Ordering now will ensure that the dresses arrive prior to concert in December.

Boys concert uniform.  Boys require a black tuxedo with black cummerbund, white shirt, and bowtie. You can get them at JC Penny's, The Men'sWearhouse, or online. We have received feedback that the Formal Fashions Inc website www.formalfashionsinc.com has been used successfully. This site offers a $92.50 package that includes the tuxedo, shirt, cummerbund and bowtie (select Value Packages under the menswear tab).

The Fruit Sale begins October 9 and our organizer, Linda Lichtman, is investigating innovative ways to increase our sales, including on-line orders. We will provide more details as the kickoff for the fruit sale gets closer.
