Hayfield High School Band Msg #37...Major Events to Finish Out the School Year...UVA Visit Feb 10, 2012

Newest request: Still need 1 parent to attend the trip to the University of Virginia (UVA in Charlottesville) on Friday, 10 Feb.  Thank you to Linda Lichtman, Melvin Cloud, & Ron Schmidt for already volunteering.  Please see attached document for details.

January 2012

February 2012

Since Hayfield usually hosts the All-District Band rehearsals and concert, things to plan for & get volunteers:

We do a hospitality suite for all of the Directors (Atsuko Russell has graciously volunteered to lead this effort).  It involves breakfast and lunch usually for Friday and Saturday.

 

Additionally, we provide a concession stand for students to buy snacks during their breaks on Friday and SaturdayAlso on Saturday we do the pizza lunchMr. Burke will need to get a count of the number of slices (cheese/pepperoni) during the Friday rehearsals (relatively early so you can let Papa Johns know how many pizzas you will need for Saturday and they can schedule their staff).  The rest of the concessions (water, soda, candy, chips, etc) is an educated guess based on previous years.  We set the prices on everything so that we make very little profit (or at least didn't lose money) because we see it mostly as a service for the students attending.

6         Band Concert, 7:00pm…The Final Concert…another boutonnières making opportunity for seniors’ last concert and slideshow of senior pics x 3 (1 as a baby, 1 in the middle, and 1 near graduation)

7,8      Drum Major Auditions, during band classes

?         Underclass Awards, 7:30am, Jazz Band

11       Tri-M Music Dept. Awards -pot luck dessert

14      Graduation, 4:30pm, Wind Ensemble…volunteers needed to serve lunch

18       Marching Band Clinic, 11:30am-1:30pm

- Third payment of $136 for January 4th for the Band Spring Trip, 18-22 Apr to Atlanta, GA…other payments due in February 1st & March 1st… http://www.hayfieldbands.com/id76.html
- Thank you to Band Booster parent/alumni Jean Martelli for sharing her photographic talents: Composite Pictures of your child are now available for purchase through www.jeaneimages.com using password, “2011band” when prompted.  Click on the link, and order pictures from this sight. A large composite picture will be made of the whole band from these pictures.

- Parents of seniors, it’s not too early to be thinking about the 3 pictures (baby pic, kid pic, & senior pic) you want to use for the Final Concert, Wed, 6 Jun 2012

Finally, our students REALLY NEED YOU! As most teenagers, they will NEVER admit this. Your VOLUNTEERISM is ESSENTIAL to THEIR SUCCESS!!! Additionally, they really do APPRECIATE seeing you @ their various events cheering for them.
