This Week In Band!!

Happy Labor Day Weekend, Band Family!

We hope you all enjoyed the first week of school and are now enjoying a relaxing 3 day weekend!

The weather hasn't been playing very nicely for the marching band, having to hold rehearsals inside due to heat, and a cancellation of attending the first away game due to storms. Hopefully the weather cools and cooperates the remainder of the season!

There are afternoon rehearsals this week, Tuesday-Thursday, 3:15-5:15.  There is no Friday football game at all due to a bye week.

And we have our first Tag-Day on Saturday, 9/8!!!  This is our largest fundraiser of the year!  The students canvas neighborhoods within Hayfield's boundary asking for donations.  We still need students to sign-up in the band room, and parents to sign-up to drive!!  You can sign-up here:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0b4baca92ea1ff2-2018

We meet in the band room at 8.  The students eat breakfast, dress in their uniforms, and have a safety briefing before heading out into the neighborhoods in groups at 9 a.m.  Drivers are asked to meet across from the band room to receive the names of students in their group, neighborhood assignment and envelopes, and a safety briefing as well.  Tag day normally runs until after 2:00 p.m. so please make sure your band student has lunch money or a packed lunch as they will take a lunch break with their group.  Participating in Tag Days will also help defer the cost of the Band Spring Trip!!  So please sign-up!!!

Feel free to sign-up for other volunteer opportunities as well!!  The band needs a lot of help to put on their performances!  Help with uniforms, feeding dinner, moving equipment on and off the field, chaperoning, and the list goes on!!  We need you!!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Concert in the Park CANCELLED TODAY

Good afternoon -

With the weather forecast showing a great chance of heavy storms later this afternoon, the Concert in the Park scheduled for today has been postponed.  The rain date has been set for NEXT SUNDAY, June 10 from 4:00 – 6:00pm.

I know that many of you will be celebrating graduation with your kids next weekend, but this date best suited all of the members of the quintet.  Hopefully you will be able to stop by and enjoy hearing our wonderful band directors and enjoy a snack with proceeds going to the band program.

The SignUp Genius will be updated to reflect the new date.  Thank you so much for your support!
Angie

P.S.  I look forward to seeing many of you at the music department awards banquet on Monday evening!
