RE: Hayfield High School Band Msg #39...University of Virginia (UVA) Trip Friday, 10 Feb 2012

Band Booster Family,

I received the following wardrobe advice from Mr. Burke:

No jeans, no  sneakers, no sandals. Men should wear button down shirt, dress pants nice shoes and socks. Ties would be nice. Ladies should wear business/Sunday church- type clothes, and  should be able to sit in a chair  properly without exposing themselves. They should wear shoes that will be comfortable for walking around the campus. They should have a jacket for chilly weather. They should look like the kind of mature adult that a recruiting officer might remember as an outstanding candidate.

Humbly serving our kids,

Che

We do a hospitality suite for all of the Directors (Atsuko Russell has graciously volunteered to lead this effort).  It involves breakfast and lunch usually for Friday and Saturday.

Additionally, we provide a concession stand for students to buy snacks during their breaks on Friday and SaturdayAlso on Saturday we do the pizza lunchMr. Burke will need to get a count of the number of slices (cheese/pepperoni) during the Friday rehearsals (relatively early so you can let Papa Johns know how many pizzas you will need for Saturday and they can schedule their staff).  The rest of the concessions (water, soda, candy, chips, etc) is an educated guess based on previous years.  We set the prices on everything so that we make very little profit (or at least didn't lose money) because we see it mostly as a service for the students attending.

-          Prelude:  This is the BIG week/weekend of All-District Band Feb 2-4 Feb.  Since we’re hosting it, we want to look good for Hayfield and warmly invite everyone to our campus.  We STILL NEED YOUR HELP; everyone volunteering an hour or a few hours here or there will definitely pay off and make this a memorable experience for everyone.  Again, thank you to those that have already signed up and for those still wanting to sign up can either use Sign-up Genius http://signupgenius.com/go/hssband1 for All-District Band Weekend or send me an e-mail.  Thank you in advance for your help!

-          Thank you to Mrs. Pat Cloud for volunteering to use her Costco membership to buy concession items for All-District Band Weekend which will help provide snacks & pizza for the student participants

Since Hayfield usually hosts the All-District Band rehearsals and concert, things to plan for & get volunteers:
